It depends on your vehicle and the size of your dog. Our ready-made boxes are designed to fit in a wide range of vehicles (a list of the most common vehicles they fit is shown on each individual product page). Inevitably, some boxes may fit some vehicles better than others.

Our simple vehicle search will help you decide. If a ready-made box fits well and provides ample room for your dog, then you can order online. However, if you think a custom box will be more suitable for your needs, please contact us using our custom enquiry form.

If your vehicle doesn’t appear in the search list, that certainly doesn’t mean we can’t help. Quite the opposite in fact, because we will custom build a box that will fit perfectly. That’s why we are the UK’s leading supplier of custom-built dog boxes! Please contact us to start your enquiry.

Our ready-made boxes come with an escape hatch, divider and rubber mat as standard. We don’t believe you should pay for features you don’t need, so our optional extras are exactly that … optional.

The average weight of most of our ready-made dog boxes is around 20kg, similar to a large bag of dog food. Some of our boxes can be quite large and therefore awkward to lift rather than heavy. We always recommend that two people lift the box. All dog box weights shown are without any optional extras.

We have an extensive database of vehicles and know which dog boxes will fit best. However, we are more than happy to discuss these details before you place your order. Depending on your location, you are welcome to visit and try the dog box in your vehicle..

Before ordering your dog box, it’s important to check that it will provide sufficient space for your dog – dimensions are included on each individual product page. Your dog should be able to travel comfortably, including being able to sit up and turn around.

Yes, all our ready-made and custom boxes come with keylocks as standard. Our custom boxes can also be fitted with spring-bolts for additional strength if required.

Other than the DB2004 and DB2006, which are both made of fibreglass, our dog boxes are manufactured from polypropylene and, although available in other colours, white is our recommended choice due to its heat reflective properties.

In almost all vehicles that have rear seats and a boot, the dog box will sit in the vehicle safely without the need to secure it in place. Occasionally, an anchor/ratchet strap may be required or additional rubber matting underneath the box.

If you have a van, pick-up or other commercial vehicle, then additional fixings/brackets/anchor straps etc may be required.

Quite simply, white reflects light and, therefore, heat, which keeps our dog boxes nice and cool. In fact, we have seen temperatures as much as 20°C cooler inside our dog boxes. It can make a real difference during the warmer months, especially when we all know that dogs can quickly overheat in vehicles.

Our two regular finishes for the metal work are Black Powder Coated or Galvanised.

Black Powder Coated – This is our standard finish and offers a smooth, aesthetically pleasing coating that requires little maintenance. Should it become scratched or chipped it is good practice to apply a touch-up paint to prevent any degradation. This finish is suitable for most domestic situations.

Galvanised– Silver in colour, extremely durable and essential for professional and business use. This finish is highly recommended when regularly getting wet, including living near the coast where the sea air is more corrosive.

The interior of a Lintran dog transit box is smooth, so a floor liner is required. Our ready-made boxes are supplied with a rubber mat as standard. We can also supply different types of rubber matting and/or washable vet bedding as an optional extra.

Items in stock are usually dispatched within 24 hours. If a ready-made dog box is not in stock we aim to deliver within 7-10 working days. If you are able to collect, this time can be reduced.

Custom-made dog boxes are completed on a job-by-job basis, dependent on complexity and size of job. Completion time and delivery will be discussed when you place your order.

All deliveries must be checked immediately and any damages reported to us within 24 hours. Please retain the packaging until you have checked and are happy with the box in case it needs to be returned.

It is rare that this happens but if it does, no matter the circumstances, we want you to have the right dog box for your dog and vehicle. If you have any problems, please contact us and we can work out the best solution.

Many of our ready-made boxes are manufactured to fit into multiple vehicles and so, unless you are significantly downsizing your vehicle, there is a good chance your current box may fit. We recommend you trying it in your potential new car first and should your current box not fit, it may be possible for us to modify it for you accordingly. You can also double check what vehicles your box is suitable for by looking at the relevant product page.

If you have more than one vehicle in which you plan to use the box, or are planning on changing your vehicle in the near future, let us know and we’ll do our best to future proof your box by selecting / manufacturing one that will fit both vehicles.
