Highly trained dogs are used extensively in the public sector – from spaniels sniffing out drugs being smuggled through airports and ports to German Shepherds that are synonymous with the UK’s police forces.

With such important roles to fulfil, these dogs are valuable assets. Their transportation from one place to another, and kennelling on site, must be safe and secure – with so much time and training invested in each animal, there can be no compromise in their care and welfare when they are both on and off duty. A stressed animal will be unable to do its job.

Following a successful inspection of our premises and products, Lintran became an approved supplier to the Home Office. This led to various departments procuring equipment from Lintran, including counter-terrorism, border control and the police. Every requirement is different and often throws up interesting challenges – not least the design of a dog box to fit in the rear of an Audi TT, an unmarked car used by a bomb squad.

Our work within the public sector also includes HM Prison Service, Royal Air Force, SAS, Special Boat Service and the Fire Service. We supply dog boxes and trailers and are adept at modifying designs to suit specific needs. As an example, some services transport their dogs by aircraft and need easy loading solutions. Not only do our dog boxes need to fit a specific vehicle, they must be easy to remove and of a compatible size to fit on a pallet ready for loading onto a plane. Our attention to detail and in-depth understanding of how the equipment will be used ensure the successful fulfilment of each request – always keeping dogs’ comfort and welfare front of mind.
